What it is
AMRs I worked on as a Solutions Engineer at SICK. LiDAR plus ROS — drive, localise, and watch the robot from a laptop.
LiDAR library
I wrote a ROS library for SICK LiDARs (TiM5xx through 8xx). The team kept it and moved it into their ROS 2 stack. I also pulled SICK LiDAR-LOC into ROS so the robot knew where it was.
Nav
Perception, control, and nav on ROS Noetic. SLAM for the map, AMCL for localisation, and the usual obstacle avoidance.
Web app
A Flask app to drive the robot, see status, and poke at it without sitting on the machine.
The rest
I sketched how the hardware talks to the software and walked other teams through it.
