What it is
Vault LLM Assistant lets you ask questions about your Obsidian notes and get answers with citations, or generate a new note on a topic. TypeScript, Obsidian Plugin API. About 19 stars on GitHub, which is more than I expected.
Query and create
A dropdown switches modes. Query answers from your vault and links back to the source notes. Create writes a new note — it can use your vault as context — and drops it in a folder you pick, title included.
Models
OpenAI, Gemini, and Claude, or a local model through LM Studio / Ollama if you don't want stuff leaving the machine. You can set max tokens, temperature, and whether the vault goes into the prompt.
What gets indexed
Include/exclude rules decide which files are fair game. Results can be copied as text or markdown, or saved as a new note.
